Edited season of Swedish TV show lost; sources blame an AI agent, TV4 denies it
Aftonbladet reported, citing unnamed sources, that production company Mastiff let an AI agent into its server while finishing The Challenge Sverige for TV4, and that the agent deleted the entire edited season with no way to recover the files. TV4 denies an AI agent was responsible: its head of programmes blamed another technical problem and a backup that did not work. The premiere was pushed to 2027.
Disputed. TV4 denies that an AI agent deleted the season: programme chief Mia Lindqvist cited another technical problem and a backup that did not work, and press officer Ludvig Ternstedt told SVT it was not any kind of AI agent.
What would have stopped it
Keep independent, tested backups of finished production media that an agent with write access to the server cannot delete.
